Dog’s “ears cut off with scissors”
A BRISBANE man could face jail if found guilty of cutting the ears off an eight-week-old puppy with a pair of scissors, the RSPCA said today.
Inspectors from the animal welfare group seized the American staffordshire terrier south of Brisbane at the weekend after a tip-off about a cruelly mutilated animal.
The ears had been cut off to make the puppy “look tough”, a practice that is carried out in illegal dog fighting circles, RSPCA inspector Daniel Young said today.
“It’s an eight-week old American staffy male pup,” Mr Young said.
“We received information about a dog having its ears chopped off.
“We attended the address and located the pup, obviously with no ears, and we’ve spoken to a person of interest who later admitted to chopping its ears off with scissors.”
The dog had received no sedation or pain relief following its ordeal.
Mr Young said he was appalled someone would inflict such pain on an animal, particularly one so young.
“I have seen dogs with their ears chopped off in the past, but I’ve never seen an eight-week pup with its ears cut off.”
The pup has now been temporarily fostered with a Brisbane family.
It was starting to recover and had suffered no damage to its hearing, but would be scarred for life.
Mr Young said a man in his early 20s was under investigation.
Police said any charges would be laid by RSPCA inspectors under the Animal Care and Protection Act, which carries a maximum $75,000 fine and two years in prison.
The RSPCA was hoping any penalty imposed would act as a deterrent to others.
“Magistrates are starting to realise that issues like this are not tolerated by the public and are starting to give heftier fines,” Mr Young said.
The RSPCA hoped the dog would soon find a caring, permanent home.
Being a dog lover myself, I don’t understand why someone would do such thing… to a puppy! Geez!! This is so sick… sick sick people.. argh Don’t you think the puppy look so cuteee? Damn such people!!

Few days before Chinese New Year, I called my paternal grandmother, Mother Queen Dragon.. If you don’t know, I seldom call Mother Queen Dragon as she is always “running” between the children’s houses. So, two days before Chinese New Year, I decided to give her a call.
We chatted about various stuffs when.. (The following conversation was in Cantonese but I translated it to English..)

SiwwyPig: Married? Why suddenly you ask about this..
Mother Queen Dragon: Ah Mah wanna know ler… She didn’t ask you two to go register marriage ah?
SiwwyPig: Got la.. she got hinted but we both got our own plans. Besides, we both still young ma… I also not yet fulfill my own dreams also..
Mother Queen Dragon: Then you at home do what… Go register marriage laaa…
SiwwyPig: -_-” What does that got to do with us getting married now leh..?
Mother Queen Dragon: Because I want to see you two get married ma..
SiwwyPig: Aiyaaa… you got so many granddaughter-in-laws, grandson-in-laws and great grandchildren.. So, no worries ler..
After that, I quickly changed topic.. From what she said, I figured that she thinks since I got nothing to do at home as I am still unemployed, both of us might as well get married and have children.. So, I can stay at home and be housewife… Aiyer.. I think a bit outdated kuaaaa… Hmph
I think was on Wednesday, I was chatting with my brother, Prince ToyBoy when he invited me to have a phone call via MSN. So, I was there chatting with my mother, Queen Goat and at the same time, I was playing Literati on Yahoo with Boss Darling. My mom did not realised that Boss Darling was around and he could hear what we spoke till I told her..

Half way chatting, my father. King Dragon returned home. While chatting with Queen Goat, she asked about the lobster meal that Boss Darling and I had for Valentines. I then quickly emailed some photos to Prince ToyBoy’s email.
After they (both my parents and my brother) viewed the photos, my father, King Dragon quickly took over the microphone and requested to talk to Boss Darling.
King Dragon: Young man!
Boss Darling: Hello Uncle… Happy Chinese New Year..
King Dragon: Gong Hei Fatt Choy.. We, Chinese don’t say Happy Chinese New Year..
Boss Darling: Gong Hei Fatt Choy Uncle..
King Dragon: I see you cooked very nice lobster… When are you going to cook for your mother-in-law? She is waiting for you to cook for her as well..

I think we got enough hints that they are eager and waiting till their neck is already long to attend our wedding.. *haha* Before marriage, we planned to get engaged first.. So, wait few more years la till you hear me announce our wedding date… *evil laugh*
