Australian Idol 2007: Now there is 12..
Two weeks away from the Grand Final… and now we left with the three Australian Idol hopefuls Matthew “Matt” Corby, Carl Riseley and Natalie Gauci left in the competition. This week, like previous week, the top 3 are required to sing two songs each, one chosen by the Australian public and one as their own choice.
As usual, only 2 out of the remaining hopefuls can go on in the competition. Hence, in this semi finals, one of them must go. The bottom 2 contestants are…. Matt Corby and Carl Riseley. But the Australian Idol 2007 dreams ended for….
Carl Riseley, a 24 year old Royal Australian Navy from Sydney, New South Wales who plays the trumpter in the Navy Band, was selected by the four judges into the Final 12 through the Wildcard Show.
The audience choose Carl Riseley to sing “You Give Me Something” by James Morrison.
As his own choice Carl Riseley sung to “For Once in My Life” by Stevie Wonder.
Enjoy this video on his amazing Idol journey so far…
Australian Idol 2007: Now there is 12..
Less than 3 weeks to go before the grand finale in the Sydney Opera House with the final two talented singers. But for this week, the remaining 4, will “battle” it out with their big band performance by singing two songs each. With last week controversy over, everything seems to be back to the usual Idol atmosphere.
With only four left in the competition, two of the four will have their chance to make it to next week’s show, while the other two, well, you know the drill… the other two faces elimination. And this time, Carl Riseley and Marty Simpson are the two with the lowest votes.
Sadly, this week, the idol journey ended for…..
Marty Simpson, a 21 year old Central Coast, New South Wales boy who playes the guitar and compose his own songs, worked with his father as a brick-layer before his Idol journey started.
On Sunday, he first sung a song by Dave Matthews Band titled”American Baby“.
As his second song, he sung “Light My Fire” by The Doors.
Below, is Marty Simpson’s Australian Idol journey so far…
Australian Idol 2007: Now there is 12..
This week, the remaining 5 contestants of the Australian Idol 2007 get to work with Mark Holden in the preparation for this week’s Australian Hits theme. The performance this week was good but the attention was not on the songs or the performance but rather on one particular contestant. More on that later…
Monday, two out of the five young singers will have a spot for the next week show while the other three, faces the possibility of ending their Idol dream. The bottom three are….. Marty Simpson who was at the bottom 3, three weeks in a row and is his 4th bottom three throughout the whole season, Tarisai Vushe who earned one “touch down” in the season so far and first time in the bottom three, Natalie Gauci.
But the Australian public has decided that it is time to go for…..
Tarisai Vushe, a 20 year old Zimbabwe born auditioned in Sydney, New South Wales sung the song by The Veronicas titled “When It All Falls Apart“.
As I have mention earlier, there was a controversy surrounding one of the contestant… and the contestant is Tarisai Vushe. Apparently, last week, one or few of the Australian public called up the judge Kyle Sandilands and his radio station co-colleague Jackie O on their show and mention that Tarisai Vushe was being “fake”.
It was known to everyone who watches Idol that Tarisai Vushe has her signature “Thank You” despite being told off or criticized or praised by the judges. Despite she was well known to be crazy and out going in the backstage, out of the publics eye. Under the spotlight, she is a sweet and polite girl. That prompt some people to think that she is being “fake”.
I do however, understand why some people agreed with her when they say Tarisai Vushe is not fake due to her upbringing and culture. I do agree she has a good voice as well.
After her “fake” slur elimination on Monday night due to the , Tarisai Vushe blasted Ian “Dicko” Dickson and Mark Holden for calling her “fake” and sabotage her chance to win the Australian Idol 2007. Not only that, she also attacked Marcia Hines for being a “fake” herself, betraying and not siding her when the heat was up. The only judge that she did not attack (so far) is her favorite judge, Kyle Sandilands.
Australian Idol 2007: Now there is 12..
Boy, I can’t believe that we are about 5 weeks from the Sydney Opera House finale of Australian Idol 2007. This week, each remaining contestant sung two songs respectively, one chosen by the Judges and one a choice of their own. Performance this week was very good, with majority of them managed to score Mark Holden’s signature “touch down”.
Like previous week, one of them will have to end their Idol journey. With only 6 talents left, it wasn’t easy deciding who to stay and who to leave. But, the Australian public put Daniel Mifsud, Marty Simpson and Tarisai Vushe at the bottom three. Then, the hosts Andrew G and James Mathison announced that the Idol journey has ended for….. Daniel Mifsud.
Daniel Mifsud, a 23 year old from Sydney, New South Wales was chosen by the public in the Wild Card show. Through out his Idol journey, he scored one touch down from Mark.
His first song was chosen by Mark titled “Fragile” by Sting.
He then sung “From the Sea” by Eskimo Joe as his choice of song.
Australian Idol 2007: Now there is 12..
Idol… Another week.. Another contestant voted out from being the next Australian Idol.. This week, they performed songs from the year they were born. I was told that the performance was “so-so” and no one managed to get any “touch down”. On Monday, the elimination night, there were double shock for everyone watching the show. Two of the favorites singer were in the bottom three, joining Marty Simpson who is at the bottom three twice since the start of the show. It was a surprised that Benjamin “Ben” McKenzie and Matthew “Matt” Corby received the lowest public vote as well. But the shock was when it was announced that the idol journey ended Benjamin “Ben” McKenzie.
Benjamin “Ben” McKenzie a 17 year old from was Central Coast, New South Wales pinned as a favorite to win the series along with Matt Corby to win this year’s Australian Idol series.

He was never been in bottom three till this shocking elimination. He sung “Higher Ground” by Stevie Wonder.
Australian Idol 2007: Now there is 12..
Halfway through the Australian Idol 2007 journey. This week, the remaining eight took up the challenge of singing to the British pop theme. The heat of the competition seems to be rising this week with two contestant, Tarisai Vushe and Matthew “Matt” Corby earning a touch down each from Mark Holden, with Matt getting his second touch down for the season.
Again, this week, the bottom three were Carl Riseley, Jacob Butler and Daniel Mifsud. The Australian public decided that the Idol journey ends for Jacob Butler, a 25 year old who auditioned in Melbourne, Victoria. He was in the 6th place in 2005 when he entered the Australian version of The X Factor and managed to enter the top 100 Australian Idol in 2005. Jacob Butler sung the song titled “Let It Be” by The Beatles .
