Post Australian Idol: Damien Leith

Congratulations to Damien for being our 2006 Australian Idol.

As I am sure everyone loves his new single, Night of My Life, I also took the chance to paste the lyrics for you guys.. Sing your heart out to his version of Night Of My Life..!!

Night Of My Life by Damien Leith

Here we are,
Shooting stars,
Renting time in someone else’s space

So unsure
Afraid to fall
I’m standing here
A little scared
But I don’t care

‘Cos this kind of moment, is only on loan and
I wanna remember the look in your eyes
When it’s all over I want you to know I was with you when I
Had the night of my life

So don’t let go
You never know
Maybe your whole life’s about to change

So let’s hold on
Until it’s gone
Nothing’s made to last forever
Who knows whether

This kind of moment is only on loan
Sometimes you don’t know until it passes you by
And when it’s all over I want you to know that I was with you when I
Had the night of my life

Maybe this whole thing comes right down to faith,
From every choice that we think that we make
Has put us right here together today

This kind of moment
Is only on loan and,
It won’t be too long till it leaves us behind
And when it’s all over I want you to know that I was with you when I
Had the night of my life,
The night of my life,
The night of my life

Oh My Gawd!! We are just two weeks away from Opera House, Sydney.. And Yesterday night’s eviction got us all at the end of the seat.. To see which two is going off to the Opera House… Honestly, I would prefer Dean and Damien to go to the Opera House.. But… Before that…. Lets see what three of them performed on Sunday Night.. Each of them sung two songs.. One of them are chosen by the judges..

Damien Leith first sung “Nessun Dorma” by Giacomo Puccini and as his second song, he sung a famous song by The Righteous Brothers called “Unchained Melody“. Both are judge’s choice.

Nessun Dorma” by Giacomo Puccini. This song earned him a touch down.. A record three touch downs in a row.. Bravo!!

Unchained Melody” by The Righteous Brothers.

Next, is Jessica Mauboy.. She sung both Judge’s choise. The first song is “When You Believe” by Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston (The Prince of Egypt soundtrack), followed by “To Sir With Love” by Lulu. Her song choices are really good but in my opinion, she did not really make it to the level I was expecting. As for her second song, I totally agree with Mark. Because she sung the song without actually know what is the song about or able to convince everyone that although she does not know the true meaning of the songs, she can relate to the song by the lyrics. Hence, like Mark said, something just make me feel as if she is not singing the song out of her soul and heart. Anyway, the clips below… Enjoy..

“When You Believe” by Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston (The Prince of Egypt soundtrack)

“To Sir With Love” by Lulu

Dean Geyer sung two songs as well, where “Waiting On the World to Change” by John Mayer is the judge’s choice and his own choise sung, “I’ll Be” by Edwin McCain which he got a special countdown and a touchdown. For you information, Dean got a record deal with Sony BMG.

Waiting On the World to Change” by John Mayer

“I’ll Be” by Edwin McCain

If you don’t know by now, the two singers going to the Sydney Opera house is none other than…

Damien and Jessica

Yesterday, the final 4 Australian Idol sung two songs each, whereby the songs are audience choices. Damien got a touch down from Mark.. And nearly got a double touch down as well..

Tonight, the verdict night.. It really sucks, as for me. I am a fan of Chris Murphy.. and Yes.. He left the Australian Idol.. My favourite since day ONE. I hope this is not the end for Chris.. and won’t be the last we hear from him..

Now enjoy the two songs sung by Chris Murphy..

Something Beautiful by Robbie Williams..

Mean To Me by Crowded House..

How time flies… and now, we left with five really talented Australian Idol singers for 2006. Unfortunately, I was not able to watch the Australian Idol on Sunday the 19th October. Why? Well, I was in Burswood gambling and then had Birthday Buffet dinner in Atrium. I would not say the food is really that fantastic but I think its worth the money and all of us are full in the end. Anyway, back to Australian Idol.. below, are the performance I got from YouTube.. Enjoy

Ricky Muscat sung “To Love Somebody” by the popular British band, Bee Gees.

Jessica Mauboy also sung another popular song by Bee Gees called “Words”

Irish Boy, Damien Leith sung a song called “Message to my girl” by Spilt Enz

Dean Geyer performed a song “Everytime You Cry” by John Farnham

Chris Murphy, the joker performed a song by Stevie Wright called “Evie Part One”

On elimination night, we said farewell to Ricky Muscat… All the best to you Ricky, in your future undertakings.
